If you are focusing on this aspect of our homepage, it is likely that you are attracted to commercial work and, quite possibly, to work in the international arena. These decisions and inclinations will take you so far, but now comes the most important decision of all: Does SCM offer you the career opportunities you seek ?

There is no identified SCM lawyer and therefore no ideal recruit. However, we are looking for men or women who:

are creative but practical problem solvers
are stimulated by intellectual challenge
are effective communicators who see the world as their clients do
are able to work as part of a team
have a commercially-oriented approach and wish to be in business as much as advising business
take the initiative
have a truly international outlook
are interested in people as well as in concepts
are sensitive to cultural and political issues
are attracted to a democratic working environment

A fluency in English language is a positive attribute but not essential, although English is spoken throughout SCM, internationally and by most of our clients. For those whose first language is not English, therefore, fluency in English is a prerequisite for a career as a lawyer within the Firm.
